I have listed in here some quotes of psychologists I have learned to most popular theories from.

Reading over them I remember one thing I have memorized since my very first seminars: We humans are not able to see things objectively, the perception we have is subjectively and affects the way we feel, think and behave. Our perception forms the way we see life, we see ourselves as individuals and finally impacts the way we live. Maybe the following 13 quotes will make you to look at things in a different way:

  1. “People’s beliefs about their abilities have a profound effect on those abilities. Ability is not a fixed property; there is huge variablitiy in how you perform.” (Albert Bandura)
  2. “The ability to be in the present moment is a major component of mental wellness.” (Abraham Maslow)
  3. “A failure is not always a mistake, it may simply be the best one can do under the circumstances. The real mistake is to stop trying.” (B.F. Skinner)
  4. “Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to an understanding of ourselves.” (C.G. Jung)
  5. “It all depends on how we look at things, and not how they are in themselves.” (C.G. Jung)
  6. “The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.” (Carl Rogers)
  7. “Nothing in life is quite as important as you think it is while you’re thinking about it.” (Daniel Kahneman)
  8. “We’re blind to our blindness. We have very little idea of how little we know. We’re not designed to know how little we know.” (Daniel Kahneman)
  9. “A successful individual typically sets his next goal somewhat but not too much above his last achievement. In this way he steadily raises his level of aspiration.” (Kurt Lewin)
  10. “Competition is an easy way to get into flow.”(Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi)
  11. “The belief that one’s own view of reality is the only reality is the most dangerous of all delusions.” (Paul Watzlawick)
