Because I have received numerous questions from the readers of my blog referring to choosing the suitable platform, I have considered deepening this current topic by an article.
For those who like to start a blog but struggle in how to begin the first step is to choose a free blog platform because at least at the beginning, it is not very probable that you want to invest financially.
I have chosen six free blog platforms, each of them with its advantages and disadvantages. The chose has to be done according to what you want to obtain the blog you start.
You can choose according to your needs free blog platforms, which can offer you many useful applications and plugins for index, design, menus or free blog platforms, which offer you the possibility to post rapidly pictures, GIFs and quotations you create.
1. Free Blog Platform: WordPress
WordPress is one of the most popular free blog platforms. The advantage is that you have the possibility to host your blog free on WordPress – but in this case, your blog address would contain WordPress in your domain name e.g. yourdomainname.wordpress.com. If you prefer to have more freedom in choosing your internet address, you should host your WordPress Blog on a separate host. Nevertheless, WordPress offers you the possibility to choose between hundreds of free themes and makes the customization of your site easily.
2. Content-oriented platform: Medium
Medium is a platform, which was launched by former employees of Twitter and focuses more than WordPress on content. You can log-in there to your twitter account. Medium measures the time you need for reading an article and by a minimalist interface reading experience is very pleasant. There is also a special app on iPhone for following blogs on Medium.
3. Google Platform: Blogger
Blogger is next to WordPress another classic when we come to speak about blogging. Blogger is a Platform by Google and there are millions of blogger which use it. The initial settings are very simple, easier than in WordPress. There are many free templates and you can create your blog with your Gmail Account.
4. Free Blog Platforms: Tumblr
Tumblr is a mix of a free blog platform and a social site. Some specialists say that is a mix of WordPress and Twitter: you can use Tumbler domain and post directly from your mobile phone on your blog. Users post there usually pictures, picture quotes, GIFs and Videos.
5. Free Blog Platforms: blog.com
This free blog platform contains 2 million blogs with the advantage that applies a very good optimization for search engines. There are fewer themes than in WordPress or Blogger, but they are qualitative.
6. Famous platform: Livejournal
Like Blogger, Livejournal is one of the classic free blog platforms. The first blog platforms on Livejournal have been started since 1999. This platform is very similar to a social site, so besides blogging and writing, you will also find yourself talking to the other users of the platform.
Great post, I have saved this website so with any luck , I will discover a lot more on this subject matter in the future!
Thank you for your comment!
I’m really enjoying the design and layout of your site. It’s a very easy on the eyes which makes it much more enjoyable for me to come here and visit more often. Did you hire out a developer to create your theme? Outstanding work!
Hello,
I want to thank you for your question. My blog has made so far many transformations until I decided on this theme. On one hand, the past themes were not compatible with certain plugins I use, neither was the writing easy to read for the eyes, nor the pictures were displayed too little… I found it difficult to opt for a theme, I could adapt to my problems, so I tried this one and stick to it. It was not created by a designer, simply it fitted to my needs.
