Reconnect with your body during the fall

Autumn is a wonderful time to reconnect with your body, as nature itself offers us special opportunities to feel the changes and enjoy the transformations of the season. Here are some ways you can do this during the fall:

  1. Nature Walks: Autumn brings with it an explosion of color in nature, with the leaves changing to vibrant shades of red, orange and yellow. Choose to take long walks in the woods or parks to enjoy the beauty of this season. Every step on dry leaves and every breath of cool air can remind you to be aware of your moving body.
  2. Outdoor Yoga: If you practice yoga, try to do it outdoors during the fall. A yoga mat in a garden or by a lake can add a special dimension to your connection with your body and the surrounding nature.
  3. Seasonal food: Choose to eat seasonal and local food. Fall fruits and vegetables, such as apples, pumpkins, walnuts, and sweet potatoes, can be included in your diet to connect with the natural cycle of the season.
  4. Saunas or hot baths: On cool fall evenings, saunas or hot baths can be great ways to relax your muscles and feel connected to your body. As you relax, feel the heat seep into your muscles and release tension.
  5. Deep Breathing in the Cool Air: The fresh, cool fall air can be a refreshing experience. Go outside and practice deep breathing, feeling the air enter your lungs and then release in a visible cloud.
  6. Noticing Changes in Your Body: Pay attention to how your body responds to the changes in temperature and light in the fall. You may notice how your energy levels may change as the days get shorter, or how your body adjusts its circadian rhythm to adapt to new conditions.
  7. Skin and Body Care: As the temperatures drop, your skin and body may need some special care. Apply a moisturizing lotion to keep skin soft and healthy, and take time to listen to your body in the shower or bath.

Fall is a wonderful time to reconnect with your body and your environment. By being aware of the sensations and changes in your body this season, you can cultivate a deeper connection with yourself and the nature around you.
