Want to improve your toddler’s attention span?
Put away your smartphone and focus on them!
American neuroscience researchers reached this conclusion after an experiment in which they gave new toys to 36 one-year-old babies, each accompanied by a parent.
Using a camera positioned above these parent-child pairs, they measured the direction of their gaze and their attention span.
Result: when the parent had looked at the toy with their child, the child then spent more time observing it.
Even after the parent had looked away. According to the researchers, this is an important discovery, because attention span helps predict language level and problem-solving skills.
