Curiosity knows no crisis

  • What does a particularly stressful phase of life generate in us?

Researchers posed this question to nearly 1,000 adults in Great Britain. One of the results was that in times of crisis, we feel less authentic. But also that during these difficult periods, we are more open to new ideas. We become more curious about ourselves, others, and the world around us.

Some other findings:

» People in their forties and fifties are more likely to experience such a crisis (nearly 24%).

» People in their twenties and thirties are also frequently going through a crisis (1.2%).

» People in their sixties are at the bottom of the list, with 14% experiencing a crisis.

» At every stage of life, such a crisis stimulates the desire to discover, for example, new places or new flavors. Curiosity about others and oneself, however, diminishes with age.

Among the women surveyed, a quarter were experiencing a crisis, compared to 15% of men.
